Jesus Has To Be First. Period.

Some mornings, especially after the coronavirus pandemic, when I wake up, I just want my coffee and my phone. I want to scroll through Twitter and read the latest news updates. But anytime I do this, it sets my day off on the wrong foot. You know why? Because I haven’t made Jesus a priority.

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” - Mark 1:35 (NIV)

I started my mornings back the way I used to … coffee and Jesus. The news can wait.

When we put anything before Jesus, our lives reflect it.

If our minds are filled with worry, we aren’t focused on Jesus guiding our way. If our thoughts are consumed with fear, we aren’t allowing Jesus to fill us with peace. If our minds are focused on revenge and anger, then we certainly aren’t focused on God.

Today, I just want you to spend your time wisely. The more time we spend with Jesus, the more people will recognize us as His children. The less time we spend with Jesus, the more we reflect the world.

I want to sparkle for Jesus not dazzle for the world.

Jesus has to be first. Period.
